Fall 2012 Film News

Allotrope Media team shoots their 48HFP movie
With the summer heat behind us, the Memphis film community has a lot going on--and the monthly mixers can once again resume!  But that doesn't mean we haven't been busy...

MFS has supported four independent pictures with their screenings in Memphis (including Peace, Love & Misunderstanding and Your Sister's Sister from IFC Films), supported the first ever 48 Hour Film Project weekend in Memphis, and co-hosted a DSLR Filmmaking course with Fuel Film!

Now, going into Fall, there's some great news to share with everyone:

The Memphis 48 Hour Film Project will return for 2013.  With a successful inaugural year under its belt, the 48HFP will be happening again next year.  Create a team and shoot your own short movie--in 48 hours--with other Memphis filmmakers and compete for prizes.  In addition to the fun involved with accomplishing this feat, teams also get to attend three get-togethers (this year they were at the Hi-Tone Cafe), attend an awards ceremony, and even see their movie screened at Malco's Studio on the Square!  It's a lot of fun, so stay tuned to the official website and sign up for the mailing list there to keep informed.

Fall mixers are kicking off Thursday, October 11.  Now that we can all stand comfortably outside with a drink in our hand to mix it up, MFS will be hosting the first Fall mixer on October 11.  Location and speaker will be announced on the Facebook event page next week, so be sure to 'Like' our Facebook page to get updates about our events and mixers.

Fuel Film is hosting the Fuel Film: Expo 2012.  With three separate event tracks for Actors, Crew, and Filmmakers, this year's event promises to be a weekend of fun and education.  Weekend passholders get a goodie bag--and everyone can come to the Friday night kickoff party!  The event is scheduled for September 28-30 and more details (as well as tickets) can be gotten at Fuel Film's website.

In addition to all this, another DSLR Filmmaking class will be coming soon--as well as a screenwriting intensive/weekend--so stay tuned for those events.  See you all at the next mixer!
